30 November 2011

study = movies

My ORAL comprehensive exam is fast approaching... December 14,2011 it is. But why on earth I was able to watch movies (BIG TIME) these past few days?

My rest or should I call it "inhale moments" turned out to be a movie break or sometimes or most of the times, turned out to be movies break. Anyways, I just would like to amuse myself and see how many have I got for this week (as of November 30,Wednesday, 11:45pm).

Here comes the list and some posters...

Love Impossible.

Black Swan. (Oh yeah, I know. But it's never tooo late.)

Love in the Time of Cholera.

Like Crazy.

Bridesmaids.
Oh. I hit 5 in just 4 days. I am so good at this!
Let me add THE one whole season of

Season 4.

Damn. I am sooo good in sneaking movies in my supposedly hectic schedule. Oh well, what can I do? I just can't resist it. Argh! I can do this all my life.

Sadly, out of the 5 movies listed above, none was able to take a dive into my favorite movies folder. Suggestions for a good movie? I can also  take a no-brainy. :)
And by the way, I just remembered my LOVE IMPOSSIBLE.
Do you have yours?

Cheers for good movies,
Sheba
P.S. I think it took me 20 good hours for these. ;)

Reminisce

Ten years ago, on this same day...

I cried the hardest in my entire life.
          I was so devastated.
I questioned HIS love for me.
I felt that life was so unfair.
I realized how short life was.

But because also of HIM,

I realized how lucky I am to be given 13 years to share life with Papa.It may seem so short for me at first, but I think this was enough. Enough for a father
                            to inspire a child
                            to inculcate good values
                            to be of good influence
to teach a child to have positive outlook in life

Today, I remember the 16th of November ten years ago, still in tears but with a grateful heart. There are a lot in life to be thankful for.

For all those who truly loves and supports me, THANK YOU. Life would be so much different and maybe so much harder without people who cares.

From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU.

ber-ber MOMENTS

Whoah!
Time passes by so fast I didn't realize how long it has been since I last blogged.

October 18. Flight back home.
I am so excited that I took the earliest flight to General Santos City. A 5:30am flight! I won't do this again anymore. Stressful! I need to  be at the airport super early. Argh. I was with some friends though... Dora's older sister and Miss Tokyo Tokyo.

The EXPLORERS of the world. Where's Diego guys?

Little Miss Tokyo Tokyo.

Last Luzon dinner before home. I shared some of these to kuya Apol.

I also found these on the department store of Rob.
Oh my. My heart goes tumbling down. I love these.
I makes me feel sexy and beautiful. I mean it.
It is just weird for the feeling to be induced by a pair of shoes.
Oh well, we must have our own makes-me-feel-good inducing agents. It just happen that these shoes are for thyself.

Thank you for making me feel beautiful. Really.

What else is best-est when at home?!
Family. I miss these guys over here.
I am so glad to spend my self-imposed 1 week semestral break with you! Also, I had the chance to watch a movie with my Mama and some "thunder" titas and a cousin. Praybeyt Benjamin it is! It's only 65 pesos at Marbel!

According to these boys, they felt being in an airport. Ano nakain nyo?

Then comes the All Saints and Souls Day.
We still had the annual get together in the coolest cemetery in the whole wild world! Matutum Holy Garden provides entertainment! Really. I had the chance to spend time with relatives. I had fun.

DUQUEs.

November is not the same if we do not celebrate Halloween.
The best way would be spending it with the most beautiful people.
I am really excited for this monthly Ladies Night Gathering. This is my second attendance out of the 9! I need to do some attending, real hard. I hope to see the rest of the team soon.

My team. Photo courtesy of Lilay.

THE ANGEL WEARS PRADA. whops!

My Coffee Dream.

And oh, one more thing.
I still had this blue nail polish on my feet-nails.
They came a long time ago. But they are still intact though.

Better change the color asap.

Another one more thing.
I am kinda busy with lab works now.
I'll update whenever I have the chance.
I just came from a 3-day straight overnight work back in the lab with no satisfying data, YET.

Ciao.

16 October 2011

tonight I'M IN LOVE.

Yes! Tonight, I fell in love with music.

Thank you TED.
I learned to appreciate the underdog of all musical instruments, ukulele. I am speechless. Thank you Jake Shimabukuro! I am a fan.

Check this one out!
Jake playing the Bohemian Rhapsody...

BRAVO.
This made my night. :)

Master Motivator of THYSELF

Classes end yesterday.
Today is a Thursday. I don't know what happened to me but I don't feel like moving. I had breakfast at around 7:30 am, went back to bed until about 9am. Then decided to open my laptop. Then goes net surfing until 12nn! I haven't done anything yet for the day.. Argh! I hate myself for this.

And so, I told myself that my "day" will start at 1pm.
And indeed, I started moving at 1pm.
I needed to go to the book binding station to get some stuff.
On my way to out of the campus, an BRILLIANT IDEA came!

I wanted to reward myself for meeting the deadline in submitting an approved thesis outline... And so I will indulge myself to Nutella! WOHOO. But then again, past is past. Yesterday's victory is for yesterday... I need to face my today.

I need to have a super energy booster to motivate myself to do some work today. Thus, I challenge myself to finish one of my requirements today. A laboratory exercise for a Thermal Processing class. SUCH A GOOD IDEA.

However, Mr. Nutella plays hard to get. I went Robinson's Town Place and failed. I haven't found Mr. Nuts there! Mr. Robinson's, you failed me. I am very disappointed. :(

But life must continue, persist until you succeed! lol.
So, I went to Walter Mart and my efforts paid off!
Good thing they have Mr. Nuts. :)

Thank you Walter Mart! You made my day.

On my way back to the dorm, approximately 50 meter from our door step, my cute little LILIW sandals gave up! :(

Farewell, my comrade! you have served me well.

Andaming nangyari! Whatever happened to my little sandals there, I am not saddened because of Mr. Nuts! Excited much!

Finally, I got you Mr. Nuts!
 And here's the challenge:
Are you up for the challenge?
Oh, by the way... this is what I had to carry back home from the book binding station:

These were heavy!

I hope to finish my lab report today.
I just realized how good I am in motivating myself to finish my tasks.. HAHAHA. Good job myself! Rock on.

Starter for 10 & some BSB

I'm kinda not that "busy" today... and so I decided to chill.
I found this movie on my Videos Folder.
It's STARTER FOR 10.

It's simple.
It's witty.
It's smart talk. Nerd talk maybe.
It made sense.
It's DEEP.

I would recommend this movie to friends.
I would like to share to you some of the brightest thoughts (for me) of Brian Jackson:

I admit it. I’d made some mistakes. Okay, some big mistakes. Loads of them. But you can’t hide in your room forever feeling sorry for yourself. It’s not practical. At some point, you've got to get back out there, face up to things, and confront your demons.

Ever since I can remember, I'd wanted to be clever.
Some people are born clever, same way some people are born beautiful. I'm not one of those people. I'm going to have to work at it, put in the effort, and if I mess it up, I’ll learn from it.

Besides, sometimes it’s not about knowing the right answer.Sometimes it’s about asking the right questions.

-------

Also, it's not just movie day trip.. I also got some rockin'. :)
Oh yeah. You heard it right... But not with the typical rockin' coz I got my BSB back. Yes, THE Backstreet Boys. My childhood, or my teenage-hood. I downloaded the GREATEST HITS: Chapter 1. Thank you coda.fm!

And suddenly, I miss being 15.
Chao!

SUPER Post-Bday THANK YOU

Last August 25, 2011...
I turned twenty-three.
Or as I looked at it, it's the 5th anniversary of my 18th birthday. :)

I AM VERY HAPPY AND VERY THANKFUL TO BE SURROUNDED BY SOME OF THE WORLD'S MOST WONDERFUL PEOPLE.

12 midnight of the 25th of August this year, these people surprised me! Super Effort. Thus, SUPER THANK YOU! I super love the candle sticks. Sorry guys, I can't put my just-woke-up-with-your-surprise picture.. it's not so damn good. lol.

I received a little harana from these people.
I also received a Bible (thank you Tita Lorrie), bookmarks (thank you Tita Melba), a card, messages and lots of LOVE.

Whenever I use these precious bookmarks, I have this feeling that these hands are calling me to save them from drowning in the books! Funny scary. It encourages me to read the books though.

These are full of messages. And it has lights. Blinking lights!
After this midnight surprise, everybody went to bed...
And when I woke up around 6am, I found these...

Elmo greeted me!

Isn't my room mates the sweetest?

I also received posts and blogs from a dear friend from Davao.

And a lot of calls, text messages and facebook posts. :)
Special Thank you to my super-cute siblings and My Mama.
SUPER Special Thank you to Papa God for all the blessings.

Yes, I may be away from HOME-HOME but I am glad to be at home at NCPC Dorm. Life would be very much different without you guys!

Again and again and again... I love the candle sticks!!!

I want candles like these every time I celebrate LIFE. And Oh! I wish I had that kind of cake with all the candles on it. But really, it's just the candles that I want. :D

Again and again and again...
Thank you so much guys for making August 25,2011 extra special!

Howl's Moving Castle

It's a Wednesday and I do not have classes. But that does not mean that I do not have a pile of things to do. Gosh, I still have this bed-weather mood (after yesterday's Bagyong Pedring) even though the sun is up above today. And so I decided to watch a movie before starting my laboratory reports due Monday.

My friend, Poch, gave me this movie. I do not have the slightest idea what is this all about. Since I believe that in times like these, I need to follow my heart (naks!). And so, my heart tells me to watch this movie among others.

And yes, it is worth my time. I felt like the movie was light... Though my mind is battling that it is heavy. I dunno. Maybe its because the movie didn't fail to balance the "heavy" scenes with the lights ones. There is balance.

The movie was presented in such a way that even children would understand. Also, the influence and the lessons that can one can get from this movie are priceless.

It talks about a lot of things.
Friendship.
Family.
Loyalty.
Responsibility.

and

Love.

Oh. There's the magic word again.
Here's one of my favorite quotable quotes from the movie:

Howl: Why? I'm done running away.
Finally, Ive found something worth protecting with my life.
It's you.

My most favorite part/thing in the movie:
The FRONT DOOR.

Intriguing? Hell yeah!
It is so interesting that it depicts a lot of things.
There was a moment that I wanted to have that FRONT DOOR for myself. Wanna know what's behind and what is in that front door? See it yourself! ;)

After watching, I had this interest of searching the web for things about the movie and found out that this movie is based from the novel, Howl's Moving Castle, written by a Brit author Dianna Wynne Jones. Hayao Miyazaki adapted and was able to produce an Academy Award-nominated film of the same title.

Hayao Miyazaki is also behind the movie Spirited Away, which I found to be really amazing. And so I have said to myself that Miyazaki guy has the thing for witches, wizards, and ghost-like characters. I like the idea of presenting something in a form that not just adults will have an interest in it. It is also important that the young minds will have the chance of watching these kind of films. And so, what are these children interested in? Of course, Anime.

And so I decided that I will watch the other movies directed by Hayao Miyazak. In the first place, I do have a copy of his movies. I just didn't know it until today.

Thank you Poch for sharing such good movies!

THE TOY INVENTOR

Last Night, I had the chance to watch one of TED TALKS videos.
My hand had this instinct and selected a video by ARVIND GUPTA.
He is Indian.
He is a toy inventor.
He is an engineer.
He knows how to convert simple things to what i call "happy toys".

For me, he is not just a toy inventor, an engineer, and a person who makes "happy toys"... Arvind Gupta is an inspiration. He opened my eyes and allowed me to appreciate simple things. He taught me to adore the engineers and  those people who truly love their work and later flourishes and produce GREAT THINGS.

His toys will remind us of our childhood.
His toys will take us back to the past and reminisce how one child can produce "happy toys" out of newspapers, straws, rubber bands, etc.
His toys wanted to tell us how one can be creative.
His toys will tell us that you don't need to buy new things to produce something special.
His toys will tell us that even without a dime, one can be happy and one can share that happiness. All it takes is a little imagination.

His toys reminds me of how I play with sticks before and how can I produce sounds from straws and metal beer caps (tansan). Nostalgic.

Let us meet him.
He's lolo looking.
But he has and will continue to touch lives.

Please have the time to watch him at TED.
This won't take long.
It's all worth it.

Arvind Gupta showed me that one can still find real HAPPINESS even in simple things.

Ponder.
Learn to appreciate simple things.
And be amazed.

JUST FOR MAMA

September 22, 2011.
My Dear Mama's Birthday.
Yes, me and my brother Aaron are away from home.
And so we decided to prepare something for Mama, way from Luzon to Southern Mindanao. She deserves all the happiness in the world.

Two weeks before her birthday, Aaron bought a bag (a very pricey one!) for Mama. He sent it home through our cousin and instructed our little siblings to keep the present until the day of Mama's birthday. Unfortunately, 5 days before her birthday, the kids back home were tempted to give the gift! (argh. KIDS!!! haha). And so Mama called me and told me everything about the bag. She said it was beautiful. Oh! How sweet of her. (P.S. I did not have the chance to see "the bag" for when I arrived at SM, it was already wrapped). I'll have a look at it when I get back home on Oct. 18. (Oh yeah, it's official. I have my tickets na).

So, yesterday... As a little celebration here at the dorm, I bought a cake. Took a picture of it. And I realized that I bought the same cake last year.

Thank you so much Mer Nel'S cake.
Bongga. You added more candy flowers this year! :D
I had your cake for 2 years in a row! Why not? It's A LOOOT better than Red Ribbon and Goldilocks. Plus, it's cheaper. ;)

Oh, the captions were so small. The one on the left was last year and the one on the right was bought September 22, 2011.

I (We) am just so happy and so lucky to have such an understanding, supportive and super loving mama. I LOVE YOU! xoxo. See you soooonest!

MWMFSOAT

MWMFSOAT...
My World's Most Favorite Seriess Of All Time.
(oh yeah, two S's for SERIESS because I have two faves)
(and yeah, i just make this one up.. the abbreviation thing)

The first one would be the GILMORE GIRLS. These girls never fail to amuse me. And oh, I think Emily Gilmore should be on the poster too. Besides, she's also a Gilmore. What do you think? ;)

I also like the the tag line: LIFE'S SHORT. TALK FAST.
And both of them REALLY talk fast. as in. really.
This series is really GOOD.
It talks about life. Family ties. Dealing with teenage problems. Parenthood. How to become a cool mom. How to become a not-so-cool-mom. How to be a bad ass. How to be a good ass. Books. Good Movies. Friendship. Dreams. Goals. Sudden change of goals and dreams. And they live in a coool town.. where town meetings exist.. where everybody participates in festivities. I wanna live in a community like Stars Hallow!

Lorelai: Tell me a joke.
Rory: Knock knock.
Lorelai: [giggles] That was a good one.

----
Lorelai: Rory never even shoplifted. Not a candy bar, not a lipstick. She forgot to return a library book once. And she was so guilty about it that she grounded herself. I mean, can you imagine? She's just sitting there in her bedroom yelling at me, "Now no one else got to read the Iliad this week because of me!"

----

Rory: What's with the carrots?
Lorelai: I was afraid you weren't eating well at school.
Rory: Ohhh.
Lorelai: Marshmallow?

----

Rory: So you mean someone broke into our house, went past our TV, our stereo and our jewelry, then headed straight for the booster club cashbox, took $18 and left the rest?
Lorelai: Some burglars aren't as greedy as others.

I do actually learn A LOT from Lorelai and Rory.
I sometimes wish I had that same closeness and my-best-friend-is-my-mom thing... Though I love my mama very much.

And Yes! I like F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
Who wouldn't?
And oh, I like the tv-show-FRIENDS and the people-friends.

When I'm a little down and I wanted to refresh my mind, I just watch this tv series. My laughing is like endless when I'm into even one episode of this.

I like Phoebe. But I think my friends would see me as Ross kind of girl or Monica kind of person.. But definitely not like Rachel. :D

I have the complete downloaded copies of both of MWMFSOAT.
I have the 7 seasons of GG (not Gossip Girl) and 10 seasons of FRIENDS. If you want a copy, just tell me.

*Thank you, dear friends Poch and Twet, for introducing me to these guys.
